Associate or Full Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Position and Appointment: The successful candidate will: Coordinate and lead the development of the specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) as it seeks CACREP accreditation Teach courses in both the Counseling core and the Clinical Mental Health specialization including clinical instruction courses Engage in research and scholarly activity Collaborate with colleagues within Counseling, SOLES, and the University In collaboration with the director of field experiences, develop and cultivate clinical instruction sites
This is a 9-month, tenure-track position at Associate or Full Professor rank. Contingent on available funding and demand, additional intersession and summer teaching appointments are possible. The anticipated starting date is August 30, 2010 (Fall 2010, Semester). A summer 2010 teaching appointment may be available as well.
The Program: The University of San Diego Counseling Program attracts a highly diverse, motivated, and talented student body. The program is staffed by six diverse, tenure track faculty members and a director of field experiences. The Masters program includes two specializations: a new 60-unit Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization, and a CACREP accredited 48-unit School Counseling specialization. The CMHC specialization is designed to meet the coursework and fieldwork requirements of CACREP standards, the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and many state licensing boards. The degree requires the student to complete two semesters of an approved clinical mental health internship. The program is distinguished by its accomplishments in the areas of internationalization, action research, and development of community partnerships.

In addition to Counseling, the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) has programs in Leadership Studies, Learning and Teaching, and Marital and Family Therapy.
