The Microsoft SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for resolving technical support calls referred from other IT units, with department and outside contractors, and supporting new technologies as needed. The Microsoft SQL Database Administrator will report to the Interim Assistant Vice President. Specific responsibilities include:
Supporting, maintaining, and administering Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005, 2008 databases
Setting up, testing, and performing backups of Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005, 2008 servers
Providing second level technical support to UMUC
Performing other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum (3) years of hands-on experience administering, maintaining, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring the security and integrity of Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008 databases; knowledge of a Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory environment. Candidates must be proactive and able to work under pressure to troubleshoot applications and SQL servers issues. MCP Windows 2000/2003 preferred. Candidates who are familiar or have experience in document management applications, CRM applications, VMware, ESX, and MOM & VERITAS Netback up are preferred. MCSE certification is also preferred.
