Job Category:
Engineering & Architecture
Minimum Education:
Post Graduate Degree
Senior Microelectonics Process Engineer
As a Senior Microelectronics Process Engineer you will become the technical leader of a team that is developing and commercializing high voltage SiC power MOSFETs. You will work closely with device physicists and test engineers as part of an existing and expanding SiC R&D team. The team has demonstrated best in class performance from experimental SiC devices and is initiating process hardening and yield enhancement to enable full qualification and pilot volume production. You will have responsibility for completing process development and demonstrating a stable, baseline fabrication process. The overall program goal is pilot production of fully qualified devices to supply multiple GE businesses and products.
GE has demonstrated world class 1200 V SiC power MOSFETs. You will provide technical leadership to a fabrication team that is transitioning from later stage applied research to pilot production of this breakthrough device family.
You will: Work with the fab, device design and test team to finalize and document a baseline SiC power MOSFET process that is capable of meeting device requirements, and that has the lowest risk path to commercialization.
Formulate timelines, manage resources and drive execution to ensure the program moves quickly from the prototype stage into pilot production.
Exercise the baseline process to establish process robustness and identify failure modes.
Lead the team to analyze failure modes and understand root causes.
Develop robust solutions for remaining device fabrication problems.
Balance baseline lot loading with appropriate process development and short loops in order to make the most rapid progress.
Work with the Quality team to establish a QMS that allows the devices to meet appropriate Quality standards.
Transition the SiC device fab team (currently shared among multiple programs) to a dedicated fab team that is working solely on SiC pilot line fabrication.
Work closely with GE business partners and other key customers to understand the performance and reliability of devices under system test, and correct any problems traced to device fabrication and/or design.
Collaborate effectively with project leaders, device engineers, test development engineers, and system engineers, providing motivation and credible judgment.
Deliver effective presentations, reports, and publications to Global Research, GE business partners, customers, government agencies, professional societies, and peer-reviewed journals.
Build and maintain a technical network.
Mentor, supervise, coach and develop team members.
Requirements:
Masters degree in electrical engineering, physics, materials science or a closely related field.
At least 10 years experience working in the field of power semiconductor device fabrication R&D or with process development and process integration of a closely related microfabrication technology.
Demonstrated experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) application.
Experience working with a Quality Management System.
Previous commercialization experience.
Experience working in a fabrication cleanroom.
Unrestricted work authorization in the US is required.
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

Hands on process development experience working with photolithography, dry etch, furnaces, ion implantation, and/or metallization systems.
Process integration experience, especially as related to MOSFET and power semiconductor technologies.
Experience with SiC processing and devices.
Experience with JMP software, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
