Position Summary:

The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs & Professor [Associate/Full] in Bouvé College of Health Sciences is responsible for providing leadership, under the direction of the Dean of the College, for oversight of faculty affairs as related to recruitment, hiring, tenure, promotion, and the sabbatical process.  The Associate Dean facilitates mentorship of assistant and associate level faculty in relation to research and scholarship and serves in an advisory capacity as to faculty policy and procedures.  As a member of the Dean's senior leadership team, the Associate Dean assists with strategic planning for the College.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Dean works with the Dean of the College, college administrators involved with personnel, as well as with department chairs, to oversee all aspects of the faculty recruitment and hiring process. The AD works with search committee chairs to facilitate the process of advertising for and interviewing faculty candidates, as well as bringing searches to closure. The AD facilitates communication among the search committees, department chairs, Dean, and appropriate Dean's Office personnel to assist in all aspects of the hiring process. The AD advises faculty on research and scholarship as it relates to tenure and promotion and works with departments on effective mentoring for assistant and associate level faculty to facilitate successful tenure and promotion.  Also serves in an advisory capacity on issues of faculty evaluation and sabbaticals. The Associate Dean represents the College on university committees related to faculty affairs, as well as at Vice-Provost led university-wide meetings of associate deans for faculty affairs.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a PhD or appropriate advanced professional degree and have the rank of tenured associate professor or full professor; appropriate experiences commensurate with the position requirements specifically in a university setting. The candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the appropriate rank in the relevant academic department of the College. The candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with faculty and administrators. A demonstrated ability in leadership and management is required.
