Process Engineer

Ceradyne, Inc. (), based in Costa Mesa, California, is an ISO-certified company founded in 1967 to manufacture advanced technical ceramics for the defense, automotive, industrial, energy, medical, and electronic markets. Principal products include ceramic/composite ballistic armor, diesel engine cam rollers, oil field equipment components, translucent orthodontic brackets, and equipment components for semiconductor processing. Ceradyne serves global markets with manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

The Process Engineer will be located at our facility in Lexington, KY and is responsible for continuous process related improvements and daily operational support of the Silicon Nitride manufacturing operation. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maximize quality capacity and yield at minimum cost
  • Optimize Production processes and equipment for throughput, yields, and costs.
  • Provide leadership in efforts to reduce cost and improve production from existing equipment
  • Monitor and control equipment to improve production
  • Identify and specify new equipment to improve production
  • Design and evaluate DOE
  • Will lead small to medium size projects and support Senior Engineer as required for larger projects


Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. in Ceramic Engineering or Materials Science or Materials Engineering
  • 3-7 years manufacturing experience, preferably with ceramics

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of process development and advanced furnace control system.
  • Proficient computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Thermal modeling of high temperature furnace operations is a plus.
  • Engineering experience APQP, PPAP, DOE.
  • Furnace operation/controls a plus.
  • Ceramic powder processing a plus.
