Purchasing Agent Buyer

Summary:  Places purchase orders, maintains purchasing files and monitors inventory in support of the overall Purchasing function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate projects and ensure orders and procurement issues are handled in a professional and timely manner.
• Manage and develop relationships with suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality and ensure on-time delivery of purchased product and materials.
• Ensure that adequate materials are in place to support the production plan; manages delivery schedules.
• Create and manage purchase orders for inventoried items.
• Acts as Purchasing Dept. point of contact for departments ordering non-inventory items.
• Identifies & communicates cost reduction opportunities.
• Work with suppliers, QA, and Engineering to resolve quality issues.
• Work with Finance to resolve A/P issues.
• Solve procurement problems when they occur.
• Performs other work related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

• 1-2+ years’ experience in materials planning, procurement, or purchasing.
• 4 year college degree, business field preferred
• Experience with electronic purchasing.
• Ability to negotiate terms and pricing for materials and services.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with qualified suppliers.
• Ability to find and qualify new/alternative suppliers.
• Proficient with Windows based personal computers.
• Excellent knowledge of Excel is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, attention-to-detail, and multi-tasking skills.
